About Soma
What is concierge medicine, and how is it different from seeing a regular doctor?+
In a typical primary care practice, your doctor is managing 2,000+ patients. That means rushed appointments, long waits, and a physician who may not remember you between visits. At Soma, you pay an annual membership fee that gives your doctor the time and capacity to actually know you — unhurried visits, same-week access when it matters, and a physician who is thinking about your health between appointments, not just during them.
Is Soma a replacement for my primary care doctor?+
Yes. Dr. Munshi serves as your primary care physician. Routine wellness, chronic disease management, sick visits, specialist coordination — Soma handles all of it. You don't need to keep a separate primary care doctor.
What about my existing specialists?+
We work alongside them. Soma doesn't replace your cardiologist or oncologist — we act as the hub, making sure information from every specialist is pulled together into one coherent plan so nothing falls through the cracks. That's the Soma Advocacy Advantage.
Why do you focus so heavily on cardiometabolic health?+
Because cardiovascular disease is still the leading cause of preventable death — and by the time standard tests catch it, the damage is often decades old. At Soma, we assess more than 350 data points through advanced blood work, body composition analysis, VO₂ Max testing, and a suite of other diagnostics designed to give us a true picture of where your cardiometabolic health is headed. We catch your trajectory early — before there's a problem to treat. If we protect the heart and the brain, we protect your future.
What is the Soma Portfolio?+
It's a physical record of your health evolution. In a world of digital portals and lost passwords, our members value having their results documented in one place. It contains your trend lines, your advanced imaging, and your personalized longevity strategy.
Do you see children or teenagers?+
No. Soma is an adult practice. We are not a pediatric provider and require all members to be 18 years of age or older.
The Practice
Where are your offices?+
We have two locations: 947 Blanco Circle, Suite C in Salinas and 1077 Cass Street, Suite B in Monterey. Dr. Munshi splits her time between both offices. Dr. Kadakia is primarily based in Salinas. Most diagnostic testing takes place at the Salinas location.
When will the clinics open?+
Soma is currently accepting enrollment for founding memberships. Our clinics in Monterey and Salinas will officially open in early summer 2026, when we begin scheduling patient visits. Until then, we're booking Soma Syncs — brief intro calls where we walk through our tiers, answer questions, and onboard new members. Founding members can also start scheduling diagnostics ahead of the clinic opening.
What days is the clinic open?+
The clinic is open Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Friday is reserved for administrative work — we don't schedule regular visits or follow-ups on Fridays, but urgent televisits and phone touchpoints are available if something comes up.
Who will be my physician?+
Dr. Dipti Munshi. She is your primary care physician — and your advocate across every part of your care. A board-certified internist with more than a decade of hospitalist experience at leading health systems, including Ochsner Medical Center, Dr. Munshi brings uncommon clinical depth to concierge primary care. She handles your routine visits, manages your chronic conditions, sees you when something's urgent, and personally coordinates every specialist referral. The entire premise of Soma is that one physician knows you well enough to oversee your whole health picture. That physician is her.
What is Dr. Kadakia's role in the practice?+
Dr. Kadakia is Soma's preferred cardiologist and cardiometabolic lead. He plays an expanded role for members in the Advanced and Elite tiers — leading GLP-1 management for weight loss and dedicated metabolic strategy sessions covering nutrition, exercise prescription, and metabolic optimization. Elite members also receive an annual cardiovascular optimization visit with Dr. Kadakia. If you're interested in having a concierge cardiologist as part of your care team without committing to the full Elite diagnostic package, reach out — we're happy to discuss options. Full disclosure: he is Dr. Munshi's husband and co-founder of the practice.
What is a Diagnostic Day?+
For members with Advanced or Elite tiers, your annual diagnostics — labs, imaging, functional testing — can involve several appointments. We do our best to coordinate everything into one or two days so it's as convenient as possible. Most Diagnostic Days take place at our Salinas location.
Are GLP-1 medications covered by my membership?+
GLP-1 management — the dosing, monitoring, and side effect management — is included for Advanced and Elite members. The medication itself is not. We do not use compounded drugs. We will prescribe the GLP-1 that best suits your needs, and the prescription goes through your insurance for approval and cost. If your insurance does not cover the medication, you are responsible for the cost directly. We handle the clinical expertise; the pharmacy and insurance handle the prescription.
Insurance & Payment
Do you take insurance?+
Yes — Soma is a hybrid practice. We accept certain commercial insurance plans and will bill your insurance for office visits. Your annual membership fee is separate and covers the things insurance doesn't: longer appointments, proactive health planning, care coordination, advanced diagnostics, and a physician who has the time to be thorough. Reach out to us to confirm whether your plan is one we accept.
What if I don't have insurance?+
Although we still recommend everyone carry insurance for issues outside the scope of our practice, you're still welcome at Soma. Your membership covers longer visits, attentive care, and all the services included in your tier. We're happy to discuss what your membership includes and what additional costs to expect.
Do I still need health insurance if I join Soma?+
We strongly recommend it. Soma is not health insurance and does not replace it. You should maintain a separate plan — whether that's a commercial plan, a high-deductible health plan, or a health-sharing arrangement — for hospitalizations, emergency care, and specialist services outside our scope.
What does my membership fee actually cover?+
Your annual membership covers your physician's time and everything listed in your selected tier — extended visits, included lab panels, diagnostics, and services on our Memberships page. There are no surprise charges for services within your membership. For things that fall outside your tier — prescriptions, vaccines, imaging, specialist visits, or hospitalizations — we order or coordinate those on your behalf, and they are billed to your insurance as they would be anywhere else.
How is my membership billed?+
Your membership is billed in three installments: 50% at the time you sign up, 25% at three months, and the remaining 25% at six months.
What is your refund policy?+
Because your membership fee reserves your physician's time and clinical resources for the year, payments that have already been made are non-refundable. If you need to cancel mid-year, any remaining unpaid installments will not be charged. Full details are outlined in your membership agreement, and we're happy to walk you through this before you join.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?+
In many cases, yes. Soma memberships are generally eligible for payment through Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts as a qualified medical expense. We recommend confirming eligibility with your tax advisor or benefits administrator.
Does Soma bill my insurance for visits?+
Yes. As a hybrid practice, we bill your insurance for office visits when your plan is one we accept. Your membership fee covers the extras that insurance doesn't — the longer appointments, advanced diagnostics, care coordination, and proactive health planning that define the Soma experience.
Choosing the Right Tier
How do I know which tier is right for me?+
We start with a 30-minute, no-commitment intro — the Soma Sync. We'll walk you through what each tier offers so you can decide what fits your needs. If you're still unsure after that, you can book our one-time consultation — a full wellness planning session with Dr. Munshi where we review your health history, biomarkers, lifestyle, and goals. Most people leave knowing exactly which tier fits. If you enroll in any Soma membership within 14 days, the consultation fee is credited toward your first year.
Can I move between tiers?+
Yes. You're committed to your tier for one year at a time, but you can upgrade at any point during that year. At renewal, we'll revisit your goals together and figure out which tier makes the most sense for the year ahead.
Why would I pick Soma Core?+
Primary care the way it should have always been. Unhurried 60-minute visits. A physician who actually knows you. Quarterly check-ins, direct text access to your care team, same-week urgent visits, essential labs, an EKG, and your Biological Age Report — all included. No more 7-minute appointments. No more insurance and scheduling hassles. No more being a medical record number. $3,500/yr for a physician who is genuinely dedicated to you and on this health journey with you.
Why would I pick Soma Advanced?+
Because you don't just want a good doctor — you want to know what's happening inside your body. Advanced shifts the focus from great primary care to optimization and longevity. We don't want to prescribe you a medication. We want to remove them — because we've found the problem years early and we're reversing it. Everything in Core, plus 85+ biomarkers across nine clinical domains, a DEXA scan, FibroScan, VO₂ Max testing, continuous glucose monitoring, GLP-1 management with Dr. Kadakia, metabolic strategy sessions, a personalized supplement protocol, and your Soma Longevity Portfolio. Root-cause medicine — the workup most patients couldn't assemble across five specialists. $6,500/yr.
Why would I pick Soma Elite?+
For the person who wants the full picture — and a care team that leaves nothing to chance. Everything in Advanced, plus a board-certified cardiologist, coronary CT angiography, full-body MRI, the Galleri 50+ cancer screen, advanced lipid subfractionation, cardiac biomarkers, expanded genetic profiling, gut microbiome analysis, cognitive assessment, lung function testing, and digital health integration. Two executive wellness sessions per year. Physician-to-physician specialist coordination when you need a referral. Capped at 30 members — because this depth of care requires that kind of commitment from us. This is the most thorough preventive health assessment we know how to build. $13,500/yr.
What is the Elite Diagnostic Package?+
It's the complete Soma Elite diagnostic suite — without the ongoing primary care commitment. It includes full-body MRI, advanced cardiovascular workup (coronary CT, CAC score, echocardiogram), VO₂ Max, 85+ biomarker bloodwork, DEXA and FibroScan, CGM, home sleep study, cognitive assessment, biological age report, Galleri multi-cancer screen, and EKG. Every result is interpreted by your physician and delivered as a comprehensive Longevity Report with one follow-up visit to review your results. It does not include biannual physician visits, cardiologist visits, urgent care access, or ongoing follow-ups. It's $8,500 for members and $10,000 for non-members.
How does à la carte work?+
We offer a wide range of individual diagnostic tests available to both members and non-members. If you want a particular test ordered, we can do that for you at a per-test cost — reach out for our current price sheet. Members receive a discount on all à la carte tests compared to non-members. For non-members, a televisit, phone call, or in-person visit to review your results is included depending on the depth of the diagnostic test.
What are the Founding Member offers?+
For a limited time, first-year founding members receive a bonus diagnostic included in their tier at no additional cost: Core members receive a VO₂ Max Study, Advanced members receive a Home Sleep Study, and Elite members receive the Galleri Multi-Cancer Early Detection test. These offers are available for founding members only during their first year.
How many members does Soma accept?+
Each tier has limited capacity. This is a small boutique practice by design — we limit our membership to ensure your health strategy receives the depth, time, and focus it demands. Elite is capped at 30 members. Core and Advanced are similarly limited. Intentionally boutique. Exceptionally thorough.
Lab Work & Diagnostics
Where will my bloodwork be done?+
For Elite members, our phlebotomist is on-site during your annual Diagnostic Day to draw blood at the office. For all other members, blood draws are done at affiliated phlebotomy labs in Monterey, Carmel, and Salinas. In-home or in-office lab draws are also available for an additional fee — reach out to us for details.
What testing is included in Soma Advanced?+
Everything in Soma Core, plus a complete diagnostic workup across nine domains — blood, imaging, functional, and genetic — designed to show you exactly what's happening inside your body right now, and where you're heading.

1. Cardiovascular — Deep
ApoB, Lp(a), small dense LDL, HDL subpopulations, cholesterol balance (are you an absorber or a synthesizer — this alone changes medication strategy), fatty acid balance, LpPLA2, oxidized phospholipids, homocysteine, hsCRP, and CoQ10. Paired with a 12-lead EKG and VO₂ Max cardiorespiratory fitness testing, this is one of the most thorough non-invasive cardiovascular risk assessments available in outpatient medicine.

2. Metabolic & Insulin Health
HOMA-IR with beta cell function assessment, fasting glucose, HbA1c, uric acid, and a DEXA scan mapping your lean mass, fat mass, bone density, and visceral adipose tissue region by region. We catch insulin resistance 5–10 years before your A1c moves — and we show you exactly where your body is storing fat and why it matters.

3. Hormones — Complete
Full sex hormone panel (male or female specific — testosterone, estradiol, DHEA-S, FSH, LH, progesterone, SHBG), a full thyroid cascade with autoimmune screening (TSH with reflex to T3 and Free T4, plus TPO antibodies), and IGF-1 for growth hormone axis. If you have fatigue, weight gain, low libido, or brain fog — this is where we find the answer.

4. Methylation — Complete Circuit
Homocysteine, B12, folate, and MTHFR genotype. Not just vitamin levels — the entire biochemical pathway and whether it's actually working. If your MTHFR gene is impaired, it changes your supplementation strategy entirely.

5. Liver — Paired
CMP liver enzymes plus GGT from bloodwork, paired with FibroScan imaging that measures liver stiffness and fat content. Biochemistry meets structural imaging. Thirty percent of American adults have fatty liver disease and don't know it — we catch it at every stage and reverse it when it matters most.

6. Kidney — Enhanced
Creatinine and eGFR plus Cystatin C — a superior kidney function marker not affected by muscle mass, age, or diet. This catches renal decline years before standard labs would flag anything.

7. Sleep
FDA-cleared home sleep study analyzed by a board-certified sleep physician. Sleep apnea is present in roughly 25% of adults and undiagnosed in most. It drives hypertension, atrial fibrillation, insulin resistance, and cognitive decline. One night of data can change the entire treatment plan.

8. Fitness
VO₂ Max testing — the single strongest predictor of all-cause mortality. We measure your cardiorespiratory fitness precisely and show you how to improve it. Combined with a resting metabolic rate test, grip strength, gait speed, and functional movement screening, we build a complete picture of your physical capacity.

9. Genetics
Polygenic cardiovascular risk scoring (CAD, stroke, AFib, diabetes, hypertension, and more), ApoE genotype (Alzheimer's and lipid risk), and MTHFR. These are one-time tests that permanently change how we stratify your risk and make clinical decisions.

You also get a two-week continuous glucose monitor protocol with personalized metabolic insights, GLP-1 management with Dr. Kadakia, metabolic strategy sessions, a personalized supplement protocol, and your Soma Longevity Portfolio — a visual health record tracking your trends, risks, and progress year over year.

This is the workup that finds the root cause — not just the diagnosis. Most patients couldn't assemble this across five specialists.
What additional testing does Soma Elite include?+
Everything in Soma Advanced — all nine domains, every diagnostic — plus an additional layer of depth that makes Elite the most comprehensive preventive health assessment available in modern medicine.

Advanced Lipid Subfractions
LipoMap particle analysis — 28+ lipoprotein subfractions beyond what the Advanced panel measures. This is the highest-resolution view of your lipid biology available.

Advanced Inflammation
MPO, IL-6, TMAO, and oxidized LDL. These markers reveal vascular inflammation and gut-derived cardiovascular risk that standard panels miss entirely.

Cardiac Biomarkers
NT-proBNP and high-sensitivity Troponin I — the same markers used in emergency rooms to detect heart strain, used here proactively to catch subclinical cardiac stress before it becomes a crisis.

Full Cardiac Imaging
Annual cardiovascular physical performed by Dr. Kadakia, a board-certified cardiologist. Coronary CT angiography to directly visualize your coronary arteries and identify plaque years before a heart attack. Coronary artery calcium score — one of the clearest predictors of future heart disease. And a full echocardiogram assessing heart structure, valve function, pumping efficiency, and diastolic health in real time.

Full-Body MRI
Brain MRI with volumetric analysis (hippocampal volume, white matter integrity — detecting brain aging before symptoms appear). Spine MRI (cervical, thoracic, lumbar — catching disc disease and stenosis early). Abdominal and pelvic MRI with and without contrast for high-resolution evaluation of liver, pancreas, kidneys, and more.

Lung Function
Spirometry — a powerful, independent predictor of longevity that is rarely measured in healthy individuals.

Vascular Screening
Ankle-brachial index (ABI) — a quick, non-invasive test that screens for peripheral artery disease, a silent marker of systemic atherosclerosis.

Cognitive Assessment
MoCA cognitive screening to establish a baseline of memory, attention, and executive function — because protecting your brain is protecting your future.

Multi-Cancer Screening
The Galleri test — a single blood draw that screens for signals from over 50 cancer types, many of which have no standard screening test. Access to a level of early detection that was not possible before.

Expanded Genetics
Full pharmacogenomics panel (Factor V Leiden, SLCO1B1, CYP2C19 — how your body metabolizes medications). Expanded polygenic risk scoring beyond cardiovascular — including Alzheimer's, cancers, osteoporosis, and more.

Gut Microbiome
Comprehensive gut health analysis. Your microbiome influences everything from inflammation to metabolism to mental health.

Intracellular Micronutrients
Testing that measures nutrient levels inside your cells — not just what's circulating in your blood. The difference between knowing what you've consumed and knowing what your body is actually using.

Digital Health Integration
Formal review of data from your Oura, Whoop, or Apple Watch during your bi-annual visits — sleep quality, heart rate variability, activity, recovery — integrated into your care plan.

Elite is intentionally capped at 30 members. It is the most comprehensive head-to-toe evaluation modern medicine can offer — with a dedicated cardiologist, full-body imaging, advanced cancer screening, genetic profiling, and a physician who acts as your advocate across every specialist and every decision.
What is the Biological Age Report?+
Included with every Soma membership. It synthesizes key biomarkers to estimate how your body is aging relative to your chronological age — giving us a meaningful baseline to track and improve year over year.
Access & Communication
How do I reach my care team between visits?+
All Soma members have text access to their care team through our secure, HIPAA-compliant messaging platform during business hours. This isn't a nurse line or a call center — it's your care team, who knows your history, available when you need guidance.
What if I need to be seen urgently?+
We do our best to fit you in for same-day or next-day urgent visits, schedule permitting. Our clinic sees patients Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We can also handle many urgent concerns through a televisit or phone call during clinic hours — including Fridays — if an in-person visit isn't necessary.
What if I need something after hours or on a weekend?+
As a concierge practice, we will always do our best to be there for you. You have text and phone access to your care team. After hours, our clinical capabilities are more limited. For true emergencies, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room or urgent care. Non-urgent concerns will be handled in a timely manner, and your physician will always follow up.
Do you offer virtual or phone visits?+
Yes. Televisits and phone touchpoints are available during business hours across all tiers — for clinical questions, follow-ups, and concerns that don't require an in-person exam.
What happens if my physician is out of the office?+
If your physician is away, we have backup coverage in place for urgent issues that need to be seen in person right away. Routine visits and follow-ups will be scheduled after your physician has returned.
Privacy
Is my health information private?+
Completely. Soma is fully HIPAA-compliant, and we go further than the legal minimum. All communications are encrypted. Your records are stored securely. Your data is never sold, shared, or provided to third-party aggregators — ever.
Travel & Remote Care
What if I'm traveling or at a second home?+
For Advanced and Elite members, we can coordinate labs at your travel destination, handle remote prescriptions, and conduct video consultations to keep your care on track — whether you're in Palm Springs or Paris.
Getting Started
How do I join?+
Click Begin Your Journey on any page to start the conversation. We'll schedule a brief call to answer your questions and, if you'd like a deeper look before committing, book your one-time consultation with Dr. Munshi.
What is the one-time consultation?+
A thorough review of your history, labs, lifestyle, risk factors, and goals with Dr. Munshi. You'll leave with a clear picture of where you stand and a recommendation for the tier that fits your needs. If you enroll in any Soma membership within 14 days, the $950 consultation fee is credited in full toward your first year.
Is Soma currently accepting new members?+
Yes — we are currently accepting founding members across all tiers. The clinic opens this summer. Availability is limited by design, and Elite is capped at 30 members. We encourage you to inquire early, especially if Elite is your goal. All pricing listed is introductory and subject to change based on market value and availability at annual renewal.
Can I cancel my membership?+
Yes. Membership terms and cancellation details are covered in your membership agreement. If you have questions about this before joining, we're happy to walk you through it on your introductory call.
Can my spouse or family members join?+
Absolutely. Each family member would have their own individual membership and their own physician relationship. We also offer a $500 referral credit toward your next year's membership when someone you refer joins Soma. Reach out and we can discuss what makes sense for your household.
